Beverage Dispenser Cleaning & Sanitation Checklist
The spigot is the dirtiest part of any beverage dispenser — and the one most often skipped in cleaning. A simple routine keeps drinks safe and your station spotless. Use this checklist.
Daily Clean (Every Refill)
- Empty leftover liquid; do not let it sit.
- Remove the spigot assembly (valve, washer, spout).
- Wash tank, lid and base in hot, soapy water.
- Scrub the spigot parts with a bottle brush; sanitize.
- Rinse all parts; air dry on a clean rack.
- Reassemble; fill with fresh, chilled beverage.
Deep Clean (Weekly)
- Soak the spigot in a sanitizer solution for 10 minutes.
- Use a narrow brush through the spout channel to clear buildup.
- Wash the ice core (if fitted) separately.
- Check seals and washers; replace if cracked or cloudy.
Spigot Trouble-Shooting
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
| Dripping | Worn washer / debris | Clean or replace seal |
| Slow pour | Clogged channel | Brush the spout |
| Odor | Residue in valve | Deep sanitize |
Sanitation Rules
- Use an approved food-contact sanitizer; follow contact time.
- Never use abrasive pads on acrylic tanks.
- Store dry and disassembled between uses.
- Keep a log if you are in a inspected venue.
FAQ
Can I put the dispenser in the dishwasher?
Tank and base often yes (top rack); the spigot assembly usually no — hand-wash to protect the seal. Check the model's guide.
Why does my drink taste off?
Residue in the spigot or a stale ice core. Deep-clean and refresh the core daily.
Replacement seals and full units are in the beverage dispenser catalog.
